Welcome to www.matthewkesti.org, our website created in memory of our sweet son, Matthew Kesti. Please check back occasionally as this website is a work in progress and more information will be added.

In difficult times many of us have found comfort in a book. When Matthew Kesti left us too soon on December 9, 2008, we chose to remember him by making possible for other children what he loved best — good books for the Washburn Library.

A maker of lists and stories and an avid reader, he was full of gentle joy, enthusiasm, and purpose. He was a 4th grader at Kenny School and played football and baseball through the parks and in the backyard. A fountain of sports history and facts, a future writer for Sports Illustrated, and a Twins fan, he visited Yankee stadium this summer to see his (stinky!) Yankees win in extra innings on the way to Cooperstown.

Matthew's friends and family contributed over $10,000 in his memory. The Matthew Kesti Memorial Book Fund through the Hennepin County Library Foundation was created to purchase of books for boys Matthew's age over the next ten years. Though these books will have their permanent home at the Washburn library, they will circulate throughout the 41 libraries in Hennepin County and touch many lives and inspire others the way Matthew inspired so many around him.

Matthew made us laugh and inspired others to read. Those who knew him were blessed and will miss him dearly.

Thank you very much for all of your love and support, Mike, Jennifer, and Nathan
